On the main square in the small city of Ivankiv, two people passed by on their scooter. It was dusk on a Friday night, and we had just come out of the zone. Our hotel, the Hagiya, was in Ivankiv. It was our retreat, so to speak, from the place just 30km down the road where we worked all day in the radioactive dust of Pripyat. I enjoyed Ivankiv. It came alive on the weekends with young people pouring out into the streets to party.
