The Liquidators Memorial
2008
digital
This beautiful monument to the Liquidators lies alongside the road to Pripyat, at the river. The liquidators were those brave souls who went into Chernobyl to help put out the reactor fire, and to generally "clean up" the area after the disaster. They knew that the intense radiation would most likely cause them great harm, but they went in anyway. Many died shortly thereafter. There is a beautiful flower garden here which is maintained by a woman who's family was and still is devastated by the effects of Chernobyl.
